NLP. A way to change thinking
NLP can be very useful for a whole load of situations that life may throw at you. From beating those irresistible cravings, to effective weight loss programmes. What about giving your will power a real boost, so you can quit that habit you want rid of? Wouldn't it be great to feel in control and just stop smoking on your terms, or get on with the exercise without it being such a drag?
How about just having a positive outlook on life or being able to turn on a resourceful state at will; for example wouldn't it be great to be able switch on happy feelings when you are feeling blue. Not a problem! In NLP we make use of a phenomenon called anchoring. With anchoring we can associate an emotional state with a gesture or a word or even a shape or a colour. When you need the state you just make the gesture, or say the word or think of the shape then within a minute there you are, happy, confident, empowered or whatever other state you chose to set up. So that presentation or interview you've being dreading just becomes something you take in your stride, like you were born to it!
Of course techniques like anchoring are extremely useful for things like performance coaching for sports or business. Imagine how much better you could play your favourite golf course if you believed that you were as good as Tiger Woods every time you lined up for a shot. Now here's the secret, a lot of top sports people use NLP performance coaching to keep them at the top of their game.
